We seek!

We are looking for recovered corona virus persons for plasma donations!

Support with your plasma donation the development of a drug for the treatment of COVID-19!

The blood plasma of people who have recovered from Covid-19 contains antibodies that have the ability to save the lives of others who have contracted Covid-19.

It is known from previous virus epidemics that antibodies are formed in the blood of healthy people which can fight a new infection. The formation of these special antibodies takes some time (1 - 2 weeks) until they are sufficiently available. Nor can they be produced artificially, but only from the plasma of recovered patients.

The process is harmless for donors, as even after the donation there are still sufficient antibodies available, because they are always reproduced.

This donated plasma, known as convalescent plasma, can be used in two different ways. One possibility is to administer it directly to acutely ill Covid-19 patients in the hope of successfully fighting the disease. This approach is suitable for acute treatment.

The other possibility is to use it to produce a potential hyperimmunoglobulin (H-IG) therapy for COVID-19 infected patients. This protects patients who have not yet formed antibodies against the coronavirus.

For this purpose, leading plasma donation institutions and manufacturers of plasma drugs (EUROPLASMA with LFB, Biotest, BPL, Octapharma, Takeda and CSL Behring) have joined forces in the CoVIg-19 Plasma Alliance to jointly advance the development of a brand-independent anti-SARS CoV-2 hyperimmunoglobulin drug, which is to be tested in clinical trials this autumn.

Hyperimmunoglobulins are highly enriched antibodies against a specific pathogen. After donation, the convalescent plasma of many people is transported to the production facilities where it is then brought together. During the manufacturing process, the virus-specific antibodies are concentrated in the convalescent plasma of all donors. The plasma then undergoes effective procedures for virus inactivation and removal before the finished drug is produced. These processes are designed to ensure the quality and safety of the final product.

When you have fully recovered from COVID-19 and are no longer infectious, you can make a valuable contribution to the fight against the corona virus by donating plasma.

This is how you can help:

  • You must be symptom-free for 28 days.
  • Please bring a proof of a corona infection to the initial examination.

If you are interested, please call one of our plasma donation centres.
